Six people were taken to area hospitals Wednesday night following a two-car crash on Route 28, officials said.
Milton Deputy Fire Chief Brian Linehan said the crash was reported around 10 p.m. near the intersection of Nahanton Avenue and Route 28, also known as Randolph Avenue.
Milton firefighters had to used hydraulic tools remove five people from one car, Linehan said. There was only one occupant in the second car.
About half the people involved in the crash were transported to Boston hospitals with serious injuries, Linehan said. Both cars sustained significant damage.
Route 28 was closed on both sides near Nahanton Avenue for about an hour following the crash.
